Tamina Leadership Team Ministry Highlights

  • At Pastor Larry’s request the Tamina Leadership Team Ministry started in 2004 with Jeff Brady, Frank Gillespie, Roger Craig, Larry Roloff and Roberta Mims.
  • The purpose of the team was to minister to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the people in the Tamina Community.
  • The vision was to evangelize and disciple the people (men, women, boys and girls) of Tamina, to empower them to “fish for themselves” and sustain a spirit-filled life.
  • The vision was to engage with Tamina leaders and be enlightened to opportunities that our church family might be able to serve on an on-going basis.
  • The team is always looking for ways to spread the Gospel, help the community and build life-long relationships with the residents, through various outreach efforts.
  • Special Projects:
    • Coordinated getting some street lighting in Tamina with Interfaith of The Woodlands
    • Initiated the first Tamina Vacation Bible School and Carnival after years of bringing Tamina children to Crossroads' VBS.
      • Co-sponsored the Annual Back to School Bash – where we raised over $4,000 from Crossroads members through the Shoes for Scholars fundraiser to provide shoes to Tamina youth
    • Donated to the County – a refrigerator, a microwave and stove for use by T.N.T. and the community that encouraged more usage of the Tamina Community Park
    • Initiated the First Tamina Women’s Retreat
    • Helped support the cleanup of their national registry historic cemetery
    • Provided assistance for teens in crisis
    • Participated in a walk to help the children in St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis as an outreach effort

  • Ongoing Projects:
    • Initiated the weekly Tuesday Night Teens aka Tuesday Nights in Tamina (TNT) Bible Study and a weekly age appropriate children’s Bible Study – The goal is to Evangelize, Disciple and bring Hope to the youth in Tamina. In this ministry approximately 30 or more children and youth participate in weekly sessions of songs of worship, testimonies, prayers, Bible study and a meal. Through these studies many youth have successfully overcome their circumstances to strive for a better life and approximately 20 youth have accepted Christ as their Savior
      • Hosted the Annual Christmas Caroling and Food Baskets for seniors and the infirmed followed by the TNT Christmas Party with a special dinner and gifts for the teens
      • Initiated an outreach to a group home for abused and troubled girls by ministering to their specific needs
